Tonight begins the campaign for the upcoming general elections on 20 November. And today also marks the 25th anniversary of the premiere of the film adaptation of the novel by Miguel Delibes 'The disputed vote of Mr. Cay', a film directed by Antonio Giménez Rico and filmed in the province of Burgos. Blessed coincidence...

I had had planned to write something else, I promise. The material I had: trips to North Argentina, the Iguazu Falls, Brazil, Copa America football ... come on, plenty to talk about. But the time came over me, I know that is no excuse, but believe me, it's hard to find time enough. In addition, it is always best to leave something even pending, so there is always an excuse and the desire to return to the cause will be greater.

In a city such as Buenos Aires, with so many millions of people confined within their metropolitan area and, therefore, a large number of vehicles moving through the streets, a break is often needed. Parks and gardens are not abundant but some of them have a considerable size and some may even be described as cute.

I'm not an expert in economics, nor do I want to be one of them. Numbers slip through my fingers since primary school and every time I hear about currency bailouts, inflation or the German bond, my hair stand on the end and I get lost. Let's say that my territory is that one of communication, trains, geography, landscape.... ither way, economy is a part of our lives. We are in a capitalist system and as such we must comply. A necessary evil, such as politics are.

Buenos Aires was designated as World Capital of the Book 2011 by UNESCO. And no wonder. Beyond the bucolic image that may represent a library open 24 hours in any of its endless avenues, the city breathes culture at any corner. The range of events, concerts, plays, exhibitions and theater is immense and it is really hard to get bored. Among the events I usually attend to I have two favorites. One is the City Cultural Konex and the other is the NICAA space...

Today marks my second week in Buenos Aires and, although the city has a lot to offer, for the next months I will also travel to some parts of Argentina and the surrounding areas. Last weekend I was in Uruguay. Specifically, in Montevideo, the capital, and Colonia of Sacramento, a small town which historic center has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO.

When you land on the other side of the Pond after nearly twelve hours of air travel, you can feel a strange tingling, especially if it is the first time. The journey between the airport and downtown turns out to be a window of feeling seen through seen window of the bus. This is exactly what I did that April the 26th, when I arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina...

The new Dictionary of the Spanish language with lots of new words. The newest admission into the SAR, a woman with innovative approaches, and may also describe it as revolutionary? "There will be new words for a new history” Who can say that our language is not open to the five continents?

Borges has a story entitled "El libro de arena" ("The Sand"). The story deals with a man who sells to another man a book whose pages are made of sand, thus, its contents are infinite and chaotic. "I felt it was a nightmarish object, an obscene thing which inflamed and corrupted reality.”
