One of the most important elements for the success of the Local Integration Centres is the ability to offer immigrants help and an efficient advice service when dealing with day to day paperwork. This is why the Fundación de la Lengua organized on April 25th and 26th a series of training sessions about immigration for its centre coordinators. This enabled them to learn more about the subject and to develop the necessary skills to do their work efficiently.

The first session was lead by Ángel Peña, Functions Director and Head of Service of the Delegation of the Central Government in Castilla y León, who explained the bureaucratic ins and outs of the Immigration Department. During his talk, he explained the different routes immigrants can take to legalize their situation in Spain, or, in his own words "the big highways which represent work authorizations and family regroupings". His speech was illustrated by a large number of practical examples which helped attendants visualise the most common problems faced by immigrants.
The lawyer Eduardo Boelhoff offered a more human touch, in the way he explained, through charts and graphs, the race to get a residence permit. The largest part of his talk centred on the work developed by the Association Procomar, which is visited daily by many immigrants with a large amount of doubts. This proves according to Boelhoff that behind each set of papers there is a unique personal story.
But it was not all theory, since attendants were able to experiment with cameras in the photography workshop taught by Benigno Bollo, member of the corporate image and communication company "Cerocinco". All the participants to the sessions were also invited to partake in a Hindu intercultural activity, the "mandala". The route towards group stimulation, creativity and cohesion was drawn with paint, continuous paper and Arab music.
