Victor Garcia de la Concha, new head of the Instituto Cervantes
The mystery about the future director of the entity is unveiled.
The appointment was announced today by the Deputy Prime Minister, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria, after the Council of Ministers. De la Concha will follow Carmen Caffarel, who has held office since 2007, after the rejection of the post, by the laureate Nobel writer, Mario Vargas Llosa. Victor Garcia de la Concha is a person of renowned prestige, director of the Royal Spanish Language Academy from 1999 to 2010,

This asturian, Phd in Theology, is an expert in medieval, Renaissance and contemporary literature, with a deep knowledge of the works of Machado and Juan Ramón Jiménez and other Spanish poets.
He worked as assistant professor and lecturer at several colleges until he became professor of Spanish literature at the University of Salamanca, and has also been involved with numerous educational and literary projects, highlightinging the presidency of the Foundation of Urgent Spanish (Fundéu BBVA).
